Become a Tutor

Tutors 2017

“The best kept secret of being a tutor is this: while you’re helping other students (and getting paid!), you’re also becoming a better student yourself!”
                                                                                                --Aby, Biology tutor

The Center for Student Learning employs over 100 tutors each year in a variety of subject areas. Tutors receive extensive training from the Center staff and other campus professionals in these topics, among others: communication strategies, skills for working with diverse populations, and methods of becoming a peer role model. With this training comes the opportunity to be certified under the College Reading and Learning Association’s (CRLA) International Tutor Training Certification Program (ITTCP). This certification not only enhances the tutor's resume, but also brings a wage increase for each earned level.
